Join us for our Third Annual Chicago History Author Series! The series will host a kick-off program and concluding program with 9 authors in between! Series will be on Saturdays from September 22- November 17.

2012 Schedule:

September 22: Kick off Talk: Steve Macek & Benet Haller, with the Chicago Department of Zoning and Planning “City Planning and the Development of Chicago”

September 29: Denese Neu, “Chicago by the Pint: A Craft Beer History of the Windy City”

October 6: Wayne Klatt, “King of the Gold Coast: Cap’n Streeter, the Millionaires and the Story of Lake Shore Drive” & Robert P. Ledermann, “State Street: One Brick at a Time”

October 13: Michael Branigan, “A History of Chicago’s O’Hare Airport”

October 20: Jenny Lewis, CCE, CHE, “Midwest Sweet Baking History: Delectable Classics around Lake Michigan”

October 27: Gregory T. Peerbolte, “Randhurst: Suburban Chicago’s Grandest Shopping Center”

November 3: David Witter, “Oldest Chicago”

November 10: Christopher Lynch, “When Hollywood Landed at Chicago’s Midway Airport”

November 17: Concluding Program: Kermit Eby, “Where do we go from here, Chicago of the future?”

The talks will begin at 4pm in the Baggage room of the Lisle Depot located on the grounds of the Museums at Lisle Station Park. Seating is on a first come basis and there is no registration required. Thanks to a generous donation from History Press we will be raffling off a copy of each book at the end of each author’s presentation and we also have refreshments provided by the Lisle Library District. Our third series is presented by the Museums at Lisle Station Park and the Lisle Library District and sponsored additionally by the Lisle Park District, History Press, Chicago Elevated, Lisle Heritage Society and Chicago Detours.
